PPP CONCLUDES HISTORIC REGIONAL CONGRESSES, ELECTS NEW LEADERSHIP IN BANJUL

PPP elected Kodou Joof as the Regional Chairwoman of Banjul, marking a significant step in strengthening the party’s leadership at the grassroots level. Her election reflects the growing inclusiveness and renewed energy within the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) as it continues its nationwide reorganization.

Today also marks the successful conclusion of our regional congresses—a historic milestone in the restructuring and rebuilding of the PPP. This process has not been without challenges. Since the events of 1994, when the party was banned for seven years and only re-established in 2001, rebuilding strong and functional structures across the regions has remained a difficult but necessary task.

Through commitment, resilience, and unity, the PPP has now overcome these obstacles. The regional congresses have provided a platform for democratic participation, allowing members to elect leaders and reestablish the party’s presence across the country. As a result, the party can now proudly point to a growing body of elected officials at both national and regional levels, reinforcing its credibility and organizational strength.

This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and leadership of Party Leader Ousman Madikay Faal. His vision and tireless efforts have guided the party through this critical phase of renewal, ensuring that the PPP remains grounded in its core values and focused on the people.

With the regional congresses now completed, the next phase is clear—rolling out constituency congresses nationwide to further deepen the party’s grassroots engagement and consolidate its structures at every level.

The PPP moves forward with confidence, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
