The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is pleased to announce the successful holding of its Kanifing Municipality Regional Congress on the 18th of April 2026. The congress brought together delegates and party members in a spirit of unity, democracy, and shared purpose to determine the leadership that will steer the affairs of the region for the next three years.

A total of 35 accredited delegates participated in the congress, demonstrating a strong commitment to the party’s internal democratic processes. The exercise was conducted in a transparent, peaceful, and orderly manner, reflecting the PPP’s long-standing tradition of upholding democratic values and inclusiveness.

At the conclusion of the process, Mr. Kelepha Sanneh was duly elected as the Regional Chairperson. The congress was graced by several distinguished party figures who delivered inspiring and motivating remarks. Former National Administrative Secretary, Mr. Abdoulie Bah, delivered a powerful speech that emphasized unity, discipline, and the importance of strengthening party structures at all levels. The National Women Mobilizer, Sohna Aminata Badjan Mboob, also addressed the gathering, encouraging greater inclusion and active participation of women in party activities. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alhagie Waka Jobe, spoke on the importance of upholding the party’s values and legacy, while veteran politician Aji Bintou Jaiteh inspired members with her message of resilience, loyalty, and continued commitment to the PPP.

He further called on all party members in the Kanifing Municipality to rally behind the newly elected leadership to strengthen unity and advance the party’s objectives.

The PPP commends all delegates, organizers, and participants for their cooperation and discipline throughout the congress. This successful exercise reaffirms the party’s commitment to strengthening its structures and enhancing grassroots participation as it continues to position itself for greater national responsibility.
