Earlier today, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held productive meetings with executive members and senior officials of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) on the party’s role in peacebuilding and the promotion of human rights in The Gambia.

The discussions focused on strengthening the involvement and representation of women and young people within political party structures, as well as the responsibility of political parties in combating hate speech and tribalism in national discourse.

The meeting, held at the PPP’s main office on 17 Independence Drive in Banjul, also centered on issues surrounding diaspora voting and the participation of Gambians abroad in all national elections.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of dialogue, inclusivity, and democratic engagement in advancing national unity and democratic governance in The Gambia.
