OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
PPP NEXT NATIONAL CONGRESS TO BE HELD IN THE UPPER RIVER REGION (URR)
On 18 August 2026, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) decided that the Party’s next National Non-Elective (Midterm) Congress shall be held in the Upper River Region (URR).
This decision is in accordance with Article 12.1(2) of the PPP Constitution, which provides:
“The Non-Elective (Midterm) National Congress of the Party shall be convened every two years, at such date and place as may be fixed by the National Executive Committee through a simple majority of votes.”
Following the NEC’s decision, the National Central Committee (NCC) shall, in accordance with Article 12.1(3) of the Party Constitution, appoint a Congress Organizing Committee.
The Committee shall be responsible for circulating relevant Congress information and determining the procedures for the selection and accreditation of delegates, in accordance with the Party Constitution and applicable Congress procedures.
The Party will subsequently communicate the exact date, venue, delegate selection procedures, and other relevant information through its official channels.
The Party Leader and Secretary-General, Hon. Ousman Madikay Faal, congratulates the Upper River Region Regional Executive Committee and all PPP members in the region on their successful selection as hosts of the Party’s next National Congress.
The Party Leader commends the URR leadership and membership for this achievement and assures them that the National Central Committee and the entire Party will provide full support and cooperation towards the successful organization and hosting of the Congress.
Hosting the National Congress in the Upper River Region presents an important opportunity to strengthen the Party’s structures, promote unity, and demonstrate the PPP’s commitment to inclusive national participation.
