Mr. Saikou Sawo (37 years old) is not a career politician. He is a builder, a servant, and a firm believer that The Gambia can enter a Golden Era—through discipline, unity, and proven leadership rooted in service.

A visionary entrepreneur, accomplished leader, and proud U.S. Army veteran, Saikou Sawo represents a new generation of leadership driven by results, not slogans.

2.A deeply Gambian story
Born of humble beginnings, Saikou’s roots are deeply Gambian. His family migrated from Badibu to Sukuta in the 1970s, becoming an integral part of the Sukuta community. From this foundation, he inherited enduring values of hard work, resilience, honesty, and service to others.

He was educated at SOS High School in Bakoteh, where he excelled academically and emerged among the top-performing students.

From early life, Saikou learned that nothing meaningful comes without effort. These formative years shaped a leader who understands the realities of ordinary Gambians—because he has lived them.

3.Education, sacrifice, and responsibility
Driven by determination and sacrifice, Saikou pursued higher education in the United States, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business. His journey was defined by discipline and grit. While still in school, he lost his father, and as a result, he became the breadwinner of his family—balancing demanding studies with the responsibility of supporting his loved ones.

This experience instilled in him not only knowledge, but also humility, accountability, and perseverance.

4.Corporate success and entrepreneurial excellence
In the United States, Saikou built a distinguished career, rising through the ranks of Corporate America in billion-dollar industries. He later transitioned into entrepreneurship, founding Sbxg+, a strategic consulting firm specializing in:

* Enterprise technology transformation
* SaaS innovation
* Government contracting

Under his leadership, Sbxg+ secured multiple state contracts and became a trusted partner across both public and private sectors. His record reflects leadership proven by outcomes—not ambition.

5.Investing back home: jobs, dignity, and development
Despite his success abroad, Saikou never turned his back on home.

Together with his wife, Maryam Sherif, he co-founded Mirrored Aesthetic & Wellness Center in The Gambia—an innovative health and wellness institution combining luxury spa services with advanced aesthetic and medical treatments. This venture attracted international medical tourism partnerships and positioned The Gambia as an emerging destination for world-class wellness and care.

For Saikou, development is practical: jobs created, skills transferred, and dignity restored.

The venture has created over 30 full-time jobs, and because Saikou believes in minimum wage as a principle of fairness, all staff are paid a minimum salary of D9,000. For him, minimum wage is not a promise—it is proven by action.

6.A generational shift in leadership
Concerned by the direction of national leadership and guided by lived experience, Saikou became convinced that The Gambia needs new ideas—it requires a generational shift.

This belief led him and Mrs. Nenneh Cheyassin Kebe to co-found the Golden Era Party (GEP)—a movement born out of the need to replace:

* Stagnation with economic independence
* Division with unity
* Complacency with ethical, accountable governance

GEP’s mission is clear: to restore dignity, integrity, and opportunity to every Gambian home, with strong focus on:

* Youth empowerment
* Sustainable development

7.Why Saikou Sawo joined the PPP
In searching for a political party that reflects grassroots ownership, democratic values, and institutional strength, Saikou found alignment with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP).

As a result Saikou and his followers joined the PPP. The PPP is the party of independence. It led the historic struggle that delivered freedom to Gambians and laid the foundation of the modern Gambian state—building institutions, strengthening the civil service, expanding education, and promoting stability and national unity.

Unlike many parties that have become personalized and stagnant, the PPP stands apart. It remains a party with a culture of renewal and internal democracy—proving that democracy can begin within political organizations.

Saikou’s engagement with the Secretary General and Party Leader, Hon. Ousman Madikay Faal, was inspiring. What began as dialogue evolved into shared vision and mutual respect.

9.PPP’s constitutional safeguards: separating Party Leader and Flag Bearer
The PPP Constitution clearly separates the position of Flag Bearer from the position of Secretary General and Party Leader. This constitutional arrangement was established deliberately to ensure internal democracy, accountability, and fairness within the Party.

By separating these two important roles, the PPP ensures that:

1.No single individual holds excessive influence over both the Party structure and the national electoral mandate.
2.The selection of a presidential candidate remains transparent, competitive, and people-driven, rather than imposed or controlled by one office.
3.The Party Leader can focus on strengthening the institution, building structures nationwide, and safeguarding unity, while the Flag Bearer concentrates on leading the national campaign and presenting the party clear agenda to the Gambian people.
4.Party members are empowered to participate freely in leadership decisions, reinforcing the PPP’s long-standing culture of renewal and constitutional order.

This is a historic first—the first time such a public commitment has been made with clarity and sincerity before elections, showing that Saikou’s leadership is rooted in transparency and trust.
