Secretary-General and Party Leader, Hon. Ousman Madikay Faal, attended the National Conference on Combating Hate Speech and Promoting Inclusivity in Politics, organised by the Inter-Party Committee (IPC) with the support of UNESCO Dakar.
This national dialogue brought together political leaders, religious and opinion leaders, and key democratic stakeholders to advocate for peace, tolerance, and inclusivity in The Gambia’s political landscape. The discussions focused on strengthening the IPC Code of Conduct, promoting responsible political communication, and ensuring the active participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in governance and decision-making processes.
Hon. Faal’s attendance at this important gathering demonstrates his unwavering commitment to peace, national unity, and responsible leadership. Despite his busy schedule abroad, he travelled all the way from the United States specifically to participate in this event, underscoring the PPP’s firm belief in the importance of constructive dialogue and collaboration among all political stakeholders.
As the founding fathers of multiparty democracy, the PPP remains committed to upholding its core values of peace, inclusiveness, and respect for diversity, as enshrined in Article 6 and Article 20 of the Party’s Constitution.
We reaffirm our support for the IPC Code of Conduct and pledge to continue working with all partners to promote decency, decorum, and respect in public discourse.
The PPP believes that true democracy thrives only in an environment of peace, mutual respect, and national unity. We commend the IPC, and UNESCO Dakar for facilitating this vital platform for dialogue and cooperation.
