STATEMENT BY THE PEOPLE’S PROGRESSIVE PARTY (PPP) ON THE THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF THE PASSING OF UNCLE OJ

Today, May 14, marks three years since the passing of one of The Gambia’s most remarkable political figures, Uncle OJ. On this solemn occasion, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) joins family members, friends, supporters, and the entire nation in remembering and honoring a man whose life was defined by courage, humility, compassion, and unwavering service to humanity.

Uncle OJ was a true patriot and a man of the people. Throughout his life, he remained committed to justice, fairness, and the wellbeing of ordinary Gambians. He believed strongly in standing for the less fortunate and devoted much of his energy to uplifting those in need. His contributions to national development, political engagement, and community empowerment will never be forgotten.

Beyond politics, Uncle OJ was a mentor, a dependable friend, and a source of inspiration to many young people. His wisdom, sincerity, and generous spirit earned him respect across political and social divides. He carried himself with dignity and integrity, while his warmth and laughter brought comfort and joy to those around him.

The PPP recognizes and appreciates the lasting legacy he leaves behind — a legacy rooted in service, sacrifice, and dedication to country and people. Even in his absence, the values he stood for continue to inspire many across The Gambia and beyond.

As we commemorate this second anniversary, we pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Aljannah Firdaus. We also extend our continued prayers and condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who continue to mourn his loss.

May his soul continue to rest in eternal peace.
